Cookies

A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. Ascend uses very few, and none of them identify you personally.

What this site sets

• Nothing required to browse. You can read every page here with cookies switched off entirely.
• Aggregate traffic counting. We count visits and which deals get clicked so we know what is worth listing. Counted in aggregate, not tied to a profile of you.

What Amazon sets

This is the one that matters. When you follow a link from here to Amazon, Amazon places a cookie in your browser recording that the visit came from us. If you buy something within the window Amazon allows, that cookie is how the sale is credited to our account and how we are paid.

That cookie is set by Amazon, on Amazon’s domain, under Amazon’s privacy notice. We cannot read it, and we never see your Amazon account, your basket, or what you bought — only an aggregate count of orders credited to us.

What we do not use

• No advertising networks and no third-party ad trackers.
• No cross-site behavioural profiling.
• No selling or sharing of data with data brokers.

Turning them off

Every major browser can block or clear cookies in its settings, and this site works normally with them blocked. Blocking them means an Amazon purchase will not be credited to us, which costs you nothing and costs us the commission — that is your call to make.
